It is with great sadness that we share the passing of one of our founding partners, Chris Haddon, following a long illness.

Chris, alongside Duncan Few and Mike Montuschi, founded HFM Architects in 1993 after working together at BDP, where Chris was Lead Designer and Associate Partner. Among his most notable achievements were the headquarters for JP Morgan in the City of London, Henrietta House on Regent Street, and 63 St Mary Axe, designed as headquarters for Eagle Star Insurance. Following significant damage caused to the latter by the two IRA bombings in the City, its repair became one of HFM’s first major commissions.

Chris played an important role in establishing the practice and the values that continue to guide it today. His contributions to HFM, and to the profession more widely, will be remembered with great respect and gratitude.

Chris leaves wife, Helen, daughters, Rosemary, Nia and son, Timothy. A celebration of his life will be held at his former college, Queens’ College, Cambridge, next May.
