Two new Family Rooms at The Oracle Shopping Centre, Reading and Highcross, Leicester have just opened - Hammerson.
Hammerson’s Innovation team are leading the move towards more family friendly facilities in their shopping centres.
Instead of rather sterile individual baby change rooms, they are promoting the idea of communal unisex spaces with child play areas, private feeding alcoves and toilets, as well as baby changing facilities.
The first two of these have just opened at The Oracle Shopping Centre in Reading and at Highcross in Leicester.
On the left is the play area at Reading, which features an interactive screen for children’s games by Play9, some soft seating and a food preparation area.
On the right is the baby change counter at Leicester, featuring a recycled glass worktop, Dolphin changing mats and vinyl cartoon graphics.
We will be continuing the roll-out of these facilities across Hammerson’s portfolio in the coming year.
